The punishment for failure, is a common theme in Japanese game shows. It is known as ‘batsu-game’ which literally means penalty game. This usually involves doing or experiencing something very unpleasant.

Believe it or not, this is a WEEKLY GAME SHOW in Japan. It’s shown just after primetime and it rates very well. Although physical comedy based game shows like this are common in Japan, the spandex insect costumes take this to another level.

Shimura Dōbutsuen” (“天才！志村動物園”, lit. “Genius! Shimura Zoo”) and the TBS program “Dōbutsu Kisō Tengai!” (“動物園奇想天外!”, lit. “Unbelievable Animals!”). Most of the segments feature him and his bulldog friend, James, embarking on a variety of “human” tasks, like buying groceries, planting a rice paddy, or catching insects.

In this episode Pankun is hanging around in a typical Japanese office, and asked to look after the place while the boss is gone. He manages to get in a game of Jenga, assists a robber, answers the phone and dresses like Buddha. As you can imagine – all kinds of hilarity ensues.
